STARTING POINT

• In both pricing and prices, I'm radically different to any conventional practising lawyer. 

• I won't charge anything at all if I've managed to solve your issue quickly. If that embarrasses you, you can pay me a token amount of your choice. Up to you.

• If there's real work to be done, I charge a once-and-for-all fixed fee per assignment.

• My fixed fee is guaranteed to be a fraction of what an unnecessary lawyer will charge you.

• No hidden extras. No extra charges. No expenses of any kind not expressly costed and agreed in writing in advance.

MORE ABOUT THAT FIXED FEE

• Every fixed fee is:-

  • personalised to your financial and other relevant circumstances

  • customised to each assignment — as well-defined as we can make it (often there are unknowns to take into account)

  • discussed and agreed in advance of my starting work. I will never impose a number on you.

• The fee is fixed for the entire assignment, whatever it involves and however long it takes. 

• I never revisit or revise any fixed fee. No afterthoughts; no unpleasant surprises. After we have agreed it, you will never get another bill from me for that assignment.

• If my fixed fee is a business expense for you, it's probably tax-deductible.

• If you're in a dispute with someone, we'll add my fixed fee to the amount you want to recover from the other side. Why be out of pocket when asserting your rights?

I NEVER CHARGE

• by the hour: no timesheets, bill narratives, phony 'discounts', 'uplift', weighing the file or any other lawyer nonsense

• contingency / 'no win, no fee' fees

• conditional fees

• success fees

• fees linked directly or indirectly to the cost, price, value or any other feature of the assignment.

SOME NUMBERS

MrRigorous.pro services cover a huge range of situations and problems. Naturally you want a rough idea of prices, so here are some rough indicative ballpark figures for a few of the many things that I do. In a real case, the fixed fee that we agree might be more or less:-

• drafting correspondence, complaints, in a straightforward case: 300€ / £250

• a simple will: 400€ / £330

• a complex will: 850€ / £700

• good housekeeping: a thorough check and written report on all your household documents (rental agreements, insurance, whatever): 500€ / £420

• assisting in solving a simple dispute: 300€ / £250

• assisting in solving a complex dispute: 850€ / £700

• a complex but limited inheritance dispute: 1,500€ / £1,200

• a complex but limited insurance dispute: 850€ / £800

• divorce financial forensics: 1,000€ / £920

• a private investigation: starting at 500€ / £430

• a really large prolonged intricate problem requiring substantial time and work over an unknown period: impossible to say. We would have to discuss it in detail.

HOW TO PAY

•  I bill in euros or GBP.

• You can pay by:-

  • debit card

  • credit card

  • PayPal

  • bank transfer.

• I email bills (I never use the word 'invoice') and receipts as a matter of course.

OTHER

• Special offers: Sometimes I offer time-limited fixed-fee specials for certain assignments. The latest one (which might have expired by the time you check it out) can be found on the SPECIAL page.

• Retainers: where a continuing relationship is appropriate for a continuing situation, issue or problem. A retainer can be for a few weeks to a number of months.  Always a fixed fee, this arrangement can be very cost-effective. Prices depend on the situation.

• The fixed fee is all-inclusive: all data, drafting, modelling, support, strategising, consulting and other services appropriate to the assignment.

• I'm on hand and on call for you, without any limit of time on my side, until the assignment has been completed.

• I monitor, evaluate and value for you, in real time, the gross and net cost of my work per pertinent point, issue, segment, stage and holistically. 

• We check and keep checking exactly what you're getting, and likely to get, for your money.
